Faruk Kugay – Drift Racer & Motorsport Promoter Faruk Kugay is a professional drift driver, event promoter, and racing enthusiast known for his deep impact on the American and international drifting communities. Born in Europe and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Faruk has developed a racing career that spans multiple disciplines, but he is most widely recognized for his contributions to the sport of drifting in the United States. He began his motorsport journey with grassroots drifting events in Northern California, gaining respect for his technical skill, smooth style, and deep understanding of vehicle dynamics. His passion for motorsport quickly evolved beyond driving, and he played a key role in organizing events that brought the drift scene to a wider audience. Faruk became a notable competitor in Formula Drift, the top professional drifting series in North America. As both a privateer and a team driver, he earned recognition for campaigning various builds, most famously his Nissan S14 chassis powered by diverse engine swaps including the BMW S54 and later the Toyota 2JZ, showcasing his technical creativity and deep mechanical knowledge. Beyond driving, Faruk Kugay co-founded SONOMA Drift, a grassroots drift series held at Sonoma Raceway in California. Through this platform, he helped foster a new generation of drift talent and maintained a thriving drift culture on the West Coast. He is also the founder of DevSpeed Motorsports, a performance and race preparation shop that supports his own race efforts and builds for clients. DevSpeed became known for high-quality fabrication and unique drift car builds tailored for both style and performance.
