DEFINITION
A strike is a formal warning logged against a driver for a rule infringement that does not by itself trigger a battle loss or disqualification. Strikes accumulate across an event (and sometimes across a season).
Most series have a 'three strikes and out' policy: the third strike of an event automatically becomes a disqualification.
HISTORY & ORIGIN
The strike system was popularised by Formula Drift in the 2010s and adopted by other series including TOSFED Drift Şampiyonası.
TECHNIQUE BREAKDOWN
Judge raises the strike, race control confirms, and the strike is added to the driver's event tally on the timing board.
PRO TIPS & COMMON MISTAKES
• Track your strike count yourself. Race control will tell you, but knowing where you stand helps you risk-manage on the next run.
• Common mistake: pushing for a hero move on a second strike and getting the third on the same run.
He picked up his second strike for crossing the boundary line into the proximity zone.
