Danger TEHLIKE

Any condition that puts drivers, marshals or spectators at risk.

DEFINITION

Danger is the formal term for any condition that puts people at risk on or around the course — debris on the line, a stopped car in a blind spot, a crowd in the wrong place. Marshals and the chief judge can stop a session for danger at any time.

All competitors and crew are required to report danger immediately if they spot it.

HISTORY & ORIGIN

Standard motorsport safety terminology, identical across FIA-sanctioned series.

TECHNIQUE BREAKDOWN

There is no driving technique. The protocol is: spot it, radio it to race control, act on the resulting flag (yellow, red, or session pause).

PRO TIPS & COMMON MISTAKES

• If you see danger, report it. Don't assume someone else has.
• Common mistake: continuing a run past a yellow flag because 'I was nearly done'.

The session was paused for danger after a barrier section came loose at the entry.
