Career Overview

Abbas Çimen came to drifting after track and drag racing and, in his own words, is one of the first ten drivers who started the sport in Türkiye. Behind the wheel since 2008, he is today the founding driver of Driftherapy Show Team and the head instructor at Drift Akademi, active on both the show and the training side of the sport.

Driftherapy Show Team

Driftherapy, the team Çimen founded as its lead driver, performs demonstration runs at motorsport events all over Türkiye. The team has opened WRC, karting, circuit championship, rally, rallycross and hill climb events.

In early 2021 Falken became Driftherapy’s main sponsor. According to Falken, it was the first time a tyre brand had become the main sponsor of a drift team in Türkiye. Çimen drives a Subaru BRZ for the team, alongside teammate Örge Pamukçu in a Nissan Silvia S13.

Beyond shows, the team also offers drift taxi experiences, corporate events, motivation days, stunt work and social responsibility projects.

Coaching

Çimen is a TOSFED approved drift instructor. As head instructor at Drift Akademi he teaches at Tuzla Autodrom in the academy’s BMW E46 330ci, with no more than two students per session.

Alongside drift coaching he works as an advanced driving instructor at Adex Akademi and as a Ministry of Education certified driving instructor.

Racing Career

Çimen raced for ISTANBUL Drift Team in 2015, finishing 11th at the season opener at İzmir Ülkü Park and 13th in the second round at Atatürk Olympic Stadium, and closed the season 22nd with 10 points. In 2016 he took his best result, 8th at the Türkiye Drift Championship opener in İzmir, and finished the season 17th with 8 points. In 2020 he was entered with the DRIFT THERAPY team.

His garage holds a 2JZ powered, 410 hp Subaru BRZ and a 320 hp BMW E46 330. See his driver page for all race results and cars.

Business

Outside motorsport, Çimen is one of the co-founders of Norm Reklam, Dizayn CNC, Limit Lastik and Driftherapy Service.
