Training EĞITIM

Off-event coaching and seat time used to develop a driver outside competition.

DEFINITION

Training is the off-event development side of drifting — coached track days, simulator work, gym/cardio prep and structured seat-time programmes. It is what builds the muscle memory and decision speed that practice and qualifying then reveal.

In Türkiye, ApexMasters and several TOSFED-licensed instructors run formal training programmes ranging from beginner intro days to pro-level competition prep.

HISTORY & ORIGIN

Structured drift training schools emerged in the early 2000s in Japan (Drift Academy Bee*R, Tetsuya Hibino's school) and reached Türkiye in the 2010s with ApexMasters.

TECHNIQUE BREAKDOWN

A typical training day mixes classroom theory (line, weight transfer, judging criteria), passenger laps with an instructor, slow-speed skid-pad work, and finally course simulation.

PRO TIPS & COMMON MISTAKES

• Coached seat-time beats unsupervised solo practice every time. A second pair of eyes spots habits you can't see.
• Common mistake: skipping fundamentals (clutch kick, weight transfer) and trying to imitate pro-level moves first.

Six months of structured training at ApexMasters took her from first-time drifter to qualifying for the rookie cup.
