Stand-by Area BEKLEME ALANI

Where competitors wait between runs, ready to be called to the start gate.

DEFINITION

The stand-by area is the holding zone where competitors wait between runs. Cars are fully prepped — engine warm, suit on, helmet on the seat — and ready to roll forward to the start gate when called.

Stand-by sequence is determined by qualifying order or by the bracket. Failure to appear in stand-by when called is treated as a forfeit.

HISTORY & ORIGIN

Stand-by procedure is standard motorsport practice, identical to grid procedure in circuit racing.

TECHNIQUE BREAKDOWN

Driver and crew bring the car to the stand-by zone, leave the engine warm, monitor tyre pressures, and watch the timing screen for the call to stage.

PRO TIPS & COMMON MISTAKES

• Have the helmet on the seat, not on your head, while waiting. Heat fatigue during a long stand-by ruins focus.
• Common mistake: leaving the stand-by area to grab water and missing the call.

He sat in the stand-by area for forty minutes while the OMT before him went to a third rerun.
